Maple Hill Cemetery Stroll-Huntsville, AL
This afternoon I went to the Maple Hill Cemetery Stroll located in Huntsville, AL. This was very interesting and I learned alot more about Huntsville, AL. There was characters there portraying the personality of different prominent people that are buried there.
Here’s some of the ones that stood out to me: Madam Mollie Teal popular “Madam” who donated her establishment ot be uses as a hospital by the City of Huntsville. Samuel B. Moore a socially prominent bachelor and plantation owner who honored his prize cow, Lily Flagg, with a party in 1892. LeRoy Pope “Father of Huntsville” lawyer, planter and influential pioneer settler of Huntsville, AL. Mr. Pope built most of the businesses downtown Huntsville.
Dr. William H. Burritt Huntsville physician who bequeathed his home atop Monte Sano, the “Burritt Museum,” to Huntsville if they would put his ashes in a urn atop the musuem but they never did. His ashes ara located in the muslim at Maple Hill today. He was a very prominent man in his time.
